An oasis of greenery and biodiversity in the heart of Paris
This project of greening the mineral environment was carried out in collaboration with landscape architect Gabriel Rochard of Atelier Gabriel and the company Vinci Facilities, for the creation of an 800 m² garden in a patio adjacent to the famous Parisian square, Place Vendôme.
ATECH manufactured bespoke planters in pre-patinated zinc, as well as bespoke orangery planters of the “Aéris” type, in order to create a natural environment in the interior courtyard.
The objective of this development was an extension of the CSR policy of its sponsors. They wanted to create an island of freshness and thus develop biodiversity within this mineralized space. Sustainability was therefore a key issue in this project, which is why zinc and PEFC Robinia were used.
Zinc is distinguished by its bluish-grey appearance, which makes it a uniquely aesthetic material, reminiscent of the roofs of the French capital.
From a technical point of view, this material has several advantages: it is easy to maintain and long-lasting. However, it did not offer sufficient mechanical strength for this project due to its thinness. ATECH therefore combined the strength and practicality of galvanised steel with the aesthetics and advantages of zinc.
Finally, to provide a water point in the heart of this biodiversity refuge, a 3-metre long water table was made and installed.
Among the 860 m² of courtyard, the vegetation project covers 500 m² and includes 170 m² of paths and squares for 300 m² of vegetated areas. A real botanical profusion within this semi-public court of honour surrounded by the greatest jewellers.
